FAQ
Can I park and sleep in the Camper wherever I want, or do I have to stay in a campground?
You may not require using a campground every night we do recommend it every 3rd or 4th night, to use their facilities eg hot showers and replenish your fresh water. The rule of thumb with stopping on the side of the road or bush reserve is so long as there are no signs saying "No Parking/Overnight Camping" then it should be OK. Camps usually charge around $15 - $30 per night depending on standards and they do generally have very good facilities. Of course if you do free camp please remember not to leave any rubbish or traces of your stay.
Does OzPods Campers supply a list of campsites around Western Australia?
Yes, we supply campsites and regional guides as well as a comprehensive road atlas.
Do I have to pre-book camping parks?
Not really, it is rare for unpowered sites to be full at camping parks. The only time it may be a problem is over the Christmas/New Year period where booking ahead may be wise in popular tourist spots.
Do you offer one-way hires?
At the moment we do not have offices outside of Perth however depending on your destination we may be able to assist you, however charges do apply, please contact us with your travel plans & we can assess the options.
Are there any roads I can't drive on?
OzPods Campers can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads ie. main roads.
Are the Campers automatic or manual?
OzPods Campers have both automatic and manual vehicles available to hire.
How long will my batteries last?
All OzPods Campers have a heavy duty 12v battery system which, depending on usage, can last up to 48 hours without charge. If the battery starts to lose power it's just a matter of running the engine for a while. The 12v battery will power the a/c, hot/cold box, GPS & DVD however for long stays it may be advisable to go to a holiday park and plug into 240V. The house battery only charges whilst driving.
How much water do I have on board?
This depends on the model of Camper you have. The 2 berth holds 20 litres of water and can be refilled at holiday parks and often a service station when you refuel the vehicle.
How much does petrol cost in Western Australia?
Even in the most remote areas petrol is AUD$1.60 per litre and elsewhere often significantly less. If you are going to remote areas always check ahead where the next petrol station is located to avoid running out at inappropriate locations. A 20l petrol can is provided, we recommend you fill this prior to going out of metro areas.
How much fuel am I likely to use on my holiday?
It would depend on the model, how fast that you are travelling and the km's that you were doing, but it is approx 18 cents/km.
What happens if I break down or need assistance during my holiday?
Ozpods Campers has a 24-hour emergency freephone and a nationwide network of reputable service agents to deal with any problems that may arise as quickly as possible. We can also authorize you to spend up to $100.00 in emergency repairs so that you can deal with minor matters speedily or when convenient to you, but please produce the receipt when you return from your hire.
What happens if I have an accident and it's not my fault, say a third party caused it?
In the event that something happens to the Camper and you are not at fault (either a vehicle accident where someone strikes the vehicle or damage occurs while the vehicle is parked), if you are unable to supply OzPods Campers with details that enable recovery of the costs, then unfortunately you will be liable. A break in reported to the Police with a copy of incident report from the police is not charged for.
Is the tent easy to put up?
Yes! There is a full guide on how to erect the tent enclosed in the 'Camp Guide'.
Concerned about the environment?
Ozpods Campers are aware of the global challenge of climate change. Ozpods are supporters of a not-for-profit organization called GreenFleet, who for a $40 donation can offset your carbon emissions by planting 17 native trees. These trees help to create a forest that will help absorp greenhouse gases that vehicles produce. Since 1997 Greenfleet have planted more than 3 million trees.
Your involvement is of course completely optional. Follow this link to the GreenFleet website to donate, purchase gift certificates or simply to learn more about how we can all help reduce our holiday travel's impact on the environment.
